Primary Sources and News
Primary sources are news reports, social media, diaries, letters, court records or other things written at the time of the event. Eye witness reports can be good sources.
With social media we have to make extra efforts to verify items with what is written in reputable news sources, keeping in mind the bias that still may exist. The same news item may have differing points based on where it is from - victims, perpetrators, government, advocacy group, etc.

- Access World News, 1977+Newspapers from around the world and many from Arizona.
- Arizona Republic, 1999+Full text articles from the Arizona Republic.
- Arizona Republic, Phoenix Gazette, ABG, 1987-June 2009This time period is only available on The Libraries' computers. There is no other index with full text to the time period.
- Arizona Republican, 1890-1922One of the early newspapers in Arizona.
- ProQuest News & Newspapers, 1764+Covers selected newspapers from 1764+ Includes major historical newspapers, ethnic newspapers, and alternative newspapers. Use the ADVANCED search to set the publication date limit.
- Nexis UniCurrent newspapers and magazines with a section on laws and law review articles.
- Reader's Guide Retrospective, 1890-1982Indexes the popular magazines of the day. Full text of these article are either in paper copy in the library or in other online sources we have. Use the Get It @ ASU button to find it.
- Applied Science & Business Periodicals Retrospective: 1913-1983Popular and trade magazines in business and all sciences. Use the Get It @ ASU to find the full text of the articles.
