Citation Research 

You can add the Google Scholar Citation Counter to your IGoogle page with one click or use it from this page. The counter is relatively new and unsophisticated, so use with caution.   In addition to providing a citation counter; the feature will also give the "H-index"

Google Scholar is a free search engine that indexes a variety of scholarly information including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from a broad area of research. If the article has been cited by others, a cited by link will be part of the record. Clicking on that link will take you to the list of articles that cited the found item.

Searching Google Scholar

1. Go to Google Scholar.
2. Select Advanced Scholar Search (link to right of search button).
3. Enter the author's name in the "Return articles written by" field, placing quotes around the name. Since some sources indexed in Google Scholar use initials only, it is advisable to search using variations such as "p buseck" and "pr buseck".
   
4. You may also want to enter data into other fields to focus your search on a specific article.
5. Click on Search Scholar.
6. Locate the correct article in the search results list.
7. If the article was cited by others, you will see a "Cited by" link at the bottom of the record. Follow this link to view the articles that cited this article.

Be aware:

• Cited by links will only include articles that are indexed in Google Scholar. Some material may be missing.
  
• You will need to search variations in the author's name since there is no standardized format.
• There may be duplication of results, so check carefully.
  
• You may need to verify that a work is scholarly by checking Ulrich's Periodical's Directory.
• Coverage is primarily medical, scientific, and technical.
• Coverage is primarily English language.
