Compensation

Employee Compensation is the term for all forms of pay to employees. The cost of hiring training and keeping employees is an important factor in employment decisions. There are a few important works that help employers make decisions in hiring and in contract negotiations.

  1. National Compensation Survey - Compensation Cost Trends

This has the Employment Cost Index, how much it cost to replace an employee or hire a new employee. Information is available by industry, civilian, & government status.  Some tables are available in current or constant dollars, seasonally adjusted or not seasonally adjusted. Data is available back to 1975.

  2. Human Resource Executive Workindex

"workindex.com is the web site from Cornell University's School of Industrial Labor Relations and Human Resource Executive magazine. You need to read the descriptions carefully.

  3. Where To Work & its How to Compare Companies

This web site help find information on campanies so you can decide if you want to work for that company. "wheretowork lists the most 'progressive' large companies and what's on offer. These companies are trying to describe what it's like to work there, what's on offer and most importantly what's in it for you. Look how much effort they've put into this jobsite for you. Frankly, some large companies just can't be bothered putting the candidate first and they don't have as much to offer. Your choice!" The "how to Compare Companies" provides hard to find information on the Business (What they do), Culture (How they work), Diversity (Open-mindedness), Technology (How connected they are), and Giving back (Responsibility).

  4. Measuring Green Jobs

"The goal of the BLS green jobs initiative is to develop information on (1) the number of and trend over time in green jobs, (2) the industrial, occupational, and geographic distribution of the jobs, and (3) the wages of the workers in these jobs."

  5. US Salary Calculator

The ASU Library acknowledges the twenty-three Native Nations that have inhabited this land for centuries. Arizona State University's four campuses are located in the Salt River Valley on ancestral territories of Indigenous peoples, including the Akimel O’odham (Pima) and Pee Posh (Maricopa) Indian Communities, whose care and keeping of these lands allows us to be here today. ASU Library acknowledges the sovereignty of these nations and seeks to foster an environment of success and possibility for Native American students and patrons. We are advocates for the incorporation of Indigenous knowledge systems and research methodologies within contemporary library practice. ASU Library welcomes members of the Akimel O’odham and Pee Posh, and all Native nations to the Library.
