Levels of Access
What are the levels of access for users of ARTstor?
There are three levels of access for ARTstor users.
Unregistered users:
- No registration or logon is required
- Can search, browse and analyze images and data
- Can open and view the contents of institutionally-shared folders
Registered Users
- Can save Image Groups (past a single session, i.e. persistent groups that can be viewed in future sessions) and personal notes (notes added to the object records within ARTstor)
- Provided with 120 days of remote access to their ARTstor accounts
First Steps
How do I start the database?
From ASU Library home page, click "Find Database" (third tab from the left). Enter "ARTstor" in the search by Title box, and then click the "Go" button. (If you have not already logged in, you will be prompted to enter your UNET username and password). Then click "ARTstor" on the page of results (it will be the only result shown). An intermediate page appears, after which you will be taken to the ARTstor search page.
To begin searching the database, elick the "Go" button in the box on the upper right (where it says "Enter the ARTstor digital library"). This causes ARTstor's proprietary client to load; it will take over your browser window.
How can I use the ARTstor images that I find?
To view ARTstor's detailed guidelines for using its images, click on "Terms & Conditions of Use" on the bottom left of the ARTstor home page, and click the "Terms & Conditions of Use: English version" link on the following page. The guidelines will open as a PDF file. You can also read an online summary of these guidelines by clicking the "Permitted uses" link in the box on the right.
How do you log in remotely to ARTstor?
Remote Access: If you login to ARTstor within the University’s IP range, then you will be granted remote access to ARTstor for 120 days following. During those 120 days you will be able to access ARTstor from a computer anywhere in the world with your account.
- Simply go to ARTstor
- When you click on the “Login” button in the upper right corner of the page, a new window will pop up, prompting you to enter your ARTstor email address and password.
- Click the "Logon" button to begin your session.
Subject Guide
