Library Accounts

Access to the three accounts that English graduate students are likely to use on a regular basis is provided from the "Library Accounts" portion of the grey navigation bar near the top of the ASU Library web-site.

  • My Library Account (for online renewal of checked-out books, etc.)
  • Illiad (for requesting digital copies of articles not full-text online, for borrowing books from non-ASU Library, etc.)
  • RefWorks (for creating personal databases of information sources, for generating bibliographies in various citation styles, etc.)

For tutorials and other information about how to effectively use RefWorks, see the RefWorks Library Guide.

You only need to activate these three accounts one time. They then remain active for the duration of your time as an enrolled ASU graduate student.

  • If you encounter problems or want a brief summary of the steps involved in activating these accounts, from the see my Three Library Accounts information page.

Print Materials in the ASU Library

Call Numbers & Library of Congress Classification

  • The ASU Library files the majority of our print materials according to the Library of Congress Classification Outline - meaning that our items' call numbers begin with letters (rather than the Dewey Decimal system's use of numbers at the start of call numbers).
  • Items which focus on language and literature are generally assigned call numbers beginning with the letter P - regardless of format (books, dvds, journals, videos).
  • For detailed information about the P class, see the Class P: Language and Literature outline.
