Tests, Measures and Assessments in Education

This guide will assist in locating and using educational tests and assessment instruments and finding evaluative information about them

Fletcher Library Test Collection

The Fletcher Library houses approximately 70 unique test titles and instruments to support Mary Lou Fulton Teacher's College (MLFTC) assessment courses on the West Valley campus. Commercial test titles owned by ASU Library are searchable through the ASU Library Catalog.

Access to tests is generally limited to faculty and students participating in an MLFTC assessment course on the West Valley campus. Students in assessment courses taught at locations other than the West Valley campus should have access to MLFTC-owned tests through their instructor.

Tests required for completion of the course are available for request through the Blackboard course site. As part of this process qualified students and faculty on the West Valley campus can schedule pick up of items at the Information & Check-out Desk in Fletcher Library.

The turnaround time for obtaining a test is 24 hours. An ASU or government issued ID is required for checkout. Requested tests will be held for 7 days at the information & Check-out Desk. Tests not picked up during this time period will be returned to Fletcher Library's secure storage & will require another request.

All requests for tests outside the course setting are considered on a case-by-case basis (e.g. MLFTC students, with faculty permission, not enrolled in an assessment course; ASU faculty in other colleges and schools; ASU graduate students, with faculty permission, conducting thesis or dissertation work, etc.). If approved, the pick-up process is the same as outlined above.

The checkout period for tests is 7 days and loans are subject to standard reserve fines: https://lib.asu.edu/policies/fines. A no renewals policy is strongly enforced and few exceptions or last minute requests for approval of use will be granted. Tests must be returned to the Fletcher Library Information & Check-out Desk. Students are allowed to check out one test assessment at a time.

All tests not in use are maintained in secure storage at Fletcher Library and are not available for browsing. Tests can only be accessed through the library's staff at the Fletcher Library Information & Check-out Desk using the process described above.

The ASU Library acknowledges the twenty-three Native Nations that have inhabited this land for centuries. Arizona State University's four campuses are located in the Salt River Valley on ancestral territories of Indigenous peoples, including the Akimel O’odham (Pima) and Pee Posh (Maricopa) Indian Communities, whose care and keeping of these lands allows us to be here today. ASU Library acknowledges the sovereignty of these nations and seeks to foster an environment of success and possibility for Native American students and patrons. We are advocates for the incorporation of Indigenous knowledge systems and research methodologies within contemporary library practice. ASU Library welcomes members of the Akimel O’odham and Pee Posh, and all Native nations to the Library.
