ASU Library Digital Credentials

ASU Library is launching a new digital credentials service that will enable faculty to integrate credentials into Canvas.

Beginning March 15, 2020, ASU faculty and students who use learning badges and certificates through the ASU Library’s digital learning credential service will no longer be directed to the Credly tool or the landing page. Due to low supportability issues with Credly, the ASU Library is transitioning to Badgr and Canvas as its primary tools for awarding digital credentials. Part of a university pilot offering, Badgr is a new tool with improved functionality and is integrated into Canvas with single sign-on accessibility.

The ASU Library will continue to support Credly through March 15, 2020, but students and faculty are encouraged to begin using Badgr for an improved experience. Courses that reference the existing digital credential platform ( should be updated and that link removed. Students should be directed to the Canvas self-enroll links for the credential(s) they want or need to complete. Please see the Faculty Instructions or Student Instructions for those links and for additional instructions.

ASU Library’s digital credentialing program serves to bolster and demonstrate proficiency in essential university library skills. The credentials are designed to help students to master the skills needed to avoid plagiarism, locate resources, develop a research question, and more.
