ASU Library LibLessons allows faculty to integrate library tutorials into their classes.

Overview of Introduction to ASU Library

Description: Welcome to the Introduction to ASU Library tutorial! This tutorial will introduce you to the library's resources and show you all the ways we can help you.

Learning Objectives students will learn in this tutorial:

  1. Recognize the locations and differentiate resources and services of each library.
  2. Recall what is available on the ASU website, including the collections, support and search functions.
  3. Recognize the importance of your ASUrite ID and SunCard.
  4. Differentiate and define the purpose of your library and ILLIAD accounts.
  5. Determine how to access and utilize frequently used services and resources online and in-person through the ASU Libraries.
  6. Differentiate between the services and support Ask-A-Librarian, tutorials and library guides provide.
  7. Identify how and when to consult ASU librarians and resources to develop skills necessary for completing research-based writing assignments.

Adding LibLessons to your course

To add to your class, copy and paste the text below into a Page on Canvas.

(Please consult your Instructional Designer for additional assistance with adding LibLessons to your course.)

For this assignment, you will be required to complete the Introduction to ASU Library LibLesson, developed by the ASU Library! To complete the assignment, you will need to self-enroll in the course, complete the modules, complete the quiz with a 90% or higher, and submit your badge to the 'Introduction to ASU Library Badge Submission' assignment as proof of completion and participation. 

Upon completion of this LibLesson, you will be able to:

  1. Recognize the locations and differentiate resources and services of each library.
  2. Recall what is available on the ASU website, including the collections, support and search functions.
  3. Recognize the importance of your ASUrite ID and SunCard.
  4. Differentiate and define the purpose of your library and ILLIAD accounts.
  5. Determine how to access and utilize frequently used services and resources online and in-person through the ASU Libraries.
  6. Differentiate between the services and support Ask-A-Librarian, tutorials and library guides provide.
  7. Identify how and when to consult ASU librarians and resources to develop skills necessary for completing research-based writing assignments.

Create an assignment for students to submit the badge to your class.

  1. Go to assignment, Create new.
  2. Assignment name
    • Introduction to ASU Library Badge Submission
  3. Add the following text as the description:
    • After reviewing the Introduction to ASU Library tutorial in its entirety, you will need to complete a 10-question quiz with a score of at least 90% to receive a passing grade. After you receive a 90% or higher on the quiz, download the badge as directed on the syllabus and submit it.
  4. Display grade as Complete/Incomplete
  5. Submission type 'Online' 
  6. Online Entry Options 'File Uploads'
  7. Save.

After students submit their badge, you will want to verify it is correct. The image below is what the certificate should look like. It includes the badge title, the student's name, their ASUrite email, and the date of completion.
