How to Find Books About Math

In the ASU Library:

  • Use the ASU Library's Catalog
    • To find a specific book, use the Title or Author filters in the advanced search.

    • To find books on a math topic, use a Keyword search such as:
      • Calculus
      • "Fourier series"
      • "Fuzzy Logic"

In Other Libraries:

Note: If the ASU Library doesn't have a book that you need, you may request the book via our Interlibrary Loan Service.

Electronic Books:

Most of our electronic books are listed in the catalog, however, to search the full text of a book, use the native search engine for these collections:

  • SIAM E-books
A leading source of knowledge for the world’s applied mathematics and computational science communities, SIAM’s titles address timely and fundamental topics of interest to researchers, faculty, and students.
  • Knovel
Over 2,000 science and engineering handbooks in which you can find facts, formula and property data.
  • O’Reilly for Higher Education
Primarily covers books on computer programming.
  • Ebook Central
Books from major publishers in all subject areas.
  • Gale Virtual Reference Library
A  collection of encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research.
  • eBooks on EBSCOhost

The full text of books may also be searched by using Google Books.

ASU Library: Where the Math and Statistics Books are Located

A majority of ASU Library's books are going to be located in the High Density Storage Collection Stacks on the Polytechnic campus. The best way to access these books will be to search for them in the library catalog using One Search and requesting the book be sent to the ASU Library location of your choice for pick up.

However, there are still math and statistics books located at a couple of the ASU Library locations:

  • Noble Library (Tempe campus)
Contains the collections for math (QA), statistics (QA276-279) and applied mathematical methods/statistics in science, medicine and engineering (various call numbers).

  • Hayden Library (Tempe campus)
Contains the collection of applied statistics for business and social sciences (HA and other call numbers).

  • Fletcher Library (West Valley campus)
Also contains a smaller collection of math and statistics books primarily duplicating what's available on the Tempe campus although some titles in the collection are unique.

The ASU Library also has an extension collection of electronic books available online.

The ASU Library acknowledges the twenty-three Native Nations that have inhabited this land for centuries. Arizona State University's four campuses are located in the Salt River Valley on ancestral territories of Indigenous peoples, including the Akimel O’odham (Pima) and Pee Posh (Maricopa) Indian Communities, whose care and keeping of these lands allows us to be here today. ASU Library acknowledges the sovereignty of these nations and seeks to foster an environment of success and possibility for Native American students and patrons. We are advocates for the incorporation of Indigenous knowledge systems and research methodologies within contemporary library practice. ASU Library welcomes members of the Akimel O’odham and Pee Posh, and all Native nations to the Library.
