ASU Library provides free digital access to select major newspapers for current ASU students, faculty, and staff.
Use the “more…” button under each title to view setup instructions, including how to activate your account and sign in.

The Athletic
ASU Library provides current students, staff, and faculty members with complimentary access to The Athletic. Learn how to activate your pass.

USA TODAY Network
Activate your account with the USA Today Network using your ASURITE email (asurite@asu.edu).
Proceed to activate your account (You must be signed in with your ASURITE ID to view the activation page)
- Check your email to verify your account.
- After verification, you can access The Arizona Republic and other publications in the network by creating a separate login that uses your ASURITE email, as described below.
To activate free access to The Arizona Republic or any other newspapers in the USA Today Network:
- Go to the publication’s website (azcentral.com, tucson.com, desertsun.com, etc.)
- Create a new account or log in using the same ASURITE email you used to activate your USA Today Network access

Chronicle of Higher Education
Access Information: ASU students, faculty and staff have domain access (asu.edu) to this resource.
- To access full content: Visit the ASU Library Chronicle of Higher Education access page and sign in with your ASURITE ID if prompted.
- For mobile or off-campus access, create a free personal account at chronicle.com using your ASU email address (e.g., asurite@asu.edu ).
This personal account allows access from any device, including iPads, tablets and smartphones.

The New York Times
ASU Library provides current students, staff, and faculty with complimentary access to The New York Times, including News, Cooking, and Wirecutter.
Access is provided through ASU Single Sign-On (SSO).
- Eligible users must sign in with their ASURITE@asu.edu email address to access features such as mobile apps, NYT Cooking, and TimesMachine (PDF scans of issues from 1851–2002).
Notes:
- Articles from 1923–1980 are limited to five per user per day.
- For searchable full-text historical coverage (1851–2021), use ProQuest Historical Newspapers.
- The Athletic, a separate sports journalism platform owned by The New York Times, requires a separate group pass activation and is also available to current ASU students, staff, and faculty.

Wall Street Journal
Coverage: WSJ.com archives go back four years and are on a rolling basis.
Access instructions for ASU students, faculty and staff
To access The Wall Street Journal online, students, faculty, and staff must first create an account through ASU’s sponsored access. Once registered, you can read the WSJ on any device via web browser or mobile app from any location.
Registration steps
- Visit the WSJ ASU registration page
- Enter your first and last name.
- Choose your account type: Student, Professor, or Staff.
- Enter your ASU email address and create a password.
- Passwords must be 5–15 characters long, include at least one number, and may not contain spaces, %, &, or + symbols.
- Click Create to complete your registration.
- After registering, access the WSJ through the main website or the WSJ mobile app.
Already have a paid subscription?
If you currently pay for your own WSJ subscription, call 1-800-JOURNAL or email support@wsj.com to cancel it before registering through ASU.Renewals
- Students: Accounts remain active until your expected graduation date.
- Faculty and Staff: You must revalidate your membership annually by visiting the WSJ ASU registration page.
Additional Newspapers and Periodicals
ASU Library offers access to thousands of other journals, newspapers, and periodicals.
- Sign into MyASU with your ASURITE ID and password for remote access.
- To browse or search, go to:
- Journal Search: Look up specific journals, newspapers, and periodicals.
- BrowZine: Browse ASU Library’s scholarly journals by subject, view rankings, and read articles from 2005 to today.
- A-Z Databases: Locate specialized databases by Database Types (e.g., News & Newspaper Articles, E-Journal Collections, E-Book Collections).
