Learning Objectives students will learn in this tutorial:

  1. Recognize the importance of citing sources.
  2. Determine when you should cite sources in your research.
  3. Recognize the disciplines that commonly use APA Style.
  4. Identify the citation components for commonly used source materials

To add to your class, copy and paste the text below into a Page on Canvas.

For this assignment, you will be required to complete the APA Citation Style LibLesson, developed by the ASU Library! This tutorial will teach you why you need to cite your sources and how to do it using the APA Citation format. To complete the assignment, you will need to:

  1. Self-enroll in the course using this link: https://canvas.asu.edu/enroll/RN83GJ
  2. Complete the modules.
  3. Complete the quiz with a 90% or higher.
  4. Download your badge and save as a PDF.
  5. Submit your badge as a PDF to the 'APA Citation Style Badge Submission' assignment as proof of completion and participation. 

Create an assignment for students to submit the badge to your class.

  1. Go to assignment, Create new.
  2. Assignment name
    • APA Citation Badge Submission
  3. Add the following text as the description:
    • After reviewing the APA Citation Style tutorial in its entirety, you will need to complete a 10-question quiz with a score of at least 90% to receive a passing grade. After you receive a 90% or higher on the quiz, download the badge as directed on the syllabus and submit it.
  4. Display grade as Complete/Incomplete or as Points depending on how you wish to grade the assignment.
  5. Submission type 'Online' 
  6. Online Entry Options 'File Uploads'
    • Students should submit their badge as a PDF.
  7. Save.

After students submit their badge, you will want to verify it is correct. The image below is what the certificate should look like. It includes the badge title, the student's name, their ASUrite email, and the date of completion.
