  • Japan Statistical Yearbook = Nihon Tokei Nenkan
    Tokyo: Sorifu, 1949- . (ASU owns 1949-1985. Latest edition in Reference; earlier editions in Hayden East Asia.)
    Text is in English and Japanese. Supersedes Dai-Nihon Teikoku Tokei Nenkan, which was issued in Japanese only and ceased publication with Vol. 59, 1941. It has detailed statistical tables, with current and retrospective information, covering vir"tually all aspects of Japan: climate, business, education, health, science and technology, etc. The index is in Japanese, but the "list of Tables in English provides a good access guide. As of June 1993, the 1992 edition (the most current issue) is expected and the back numbers (1986-1991 editions) have been ordered.

    A brief description of present-day Japan through statistics. For further statistical information on Japan, refer to the Japan Statistical Yearbook.

  • Nippon, a Charted Survey of Japan
    Yano, Tsuneta and Shirasaki, Kyoichi. Tokyo: Kokusei-sha, 1936- . (ASU owns 1936 and 1967.)
    ASU's 1936 and 1967 editions are shelved on the Lower Level of Hayden in the Compact Shelves.

  • International Historical Statistics: Africa & Asia
    Mitchell, B.R. (Brian R.). New York: New York University Press, 1982.
    This companion volume to the European Historical Statistics, 1750-1975 provides useful historical data and it permits easy comparison with other Asian countries although it is not as detailed or comprehensive as the Japan Statistical Yearbook.
