March Mammal Madness

Dr. Katie Hinde addresses the February 2022 session of the Texas Association of Biology Teachers Speaker series. She shares the history of March Mammal Madness and the status of the upcoming 2022 tournament.

Join MMM editor-in-chief Katie Hinde and scholarly communication librarian Anali Maughan Perry to kick off the 10th annual tournament with information on how to play, a round up of resources available to fans, teachers and students and a return of the lightning round.

Hosted by Exploring by the Seat of your Pants, the folks at MMM Headquarters had an all-day March Mammal Madness Festival. Join our team of scientists and artists for a series of panels celebrating animal behavior, genetics and the tree of life, paleontology, art and design, and hilarious discussions of the history of the tournament. Designed for the classroom, the MMM team discussed career paths to wildlife biologist, animal behaviorist, paleontologist, geneticist, and scientific illustrator and along the way students can learn useful info about the 2022 combatants, their adaptations and their environments.

2023 is the 10th Anniversary of March Mammal Madness, celebrating the natural world through an evidence-based, simulated animal tournament played by hundreds of thousands of students annually. Join MMM Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Katie Hinde and librarian Anali Maughan Perry to kick off the pre-season with updated information on this year’s tournament and resources, some highlights from the last 10 years of MMM and a return of the lightning round!
